I am an Empath, 17 years old in need of some guidance. For years I have always lived with so much stress and so much confusion. And I admit, I dont live a very normal or happy life either. I dont know what to do. Most times I feel completely numb and so sad becuase the way my life has turned out in these seventeen years. I really dont know the reason why I’m going through so much. Sometimes I believe it is to make me stronger. But for what? Now I’m hearing about the Apocalypse “supposedly” happening in the year 2012. Sure, I have felt “strong feelings” towards the near future, but why would I need to be strong for it? Another thing I’ve been wondering about is Love. I “feel” as if there is something great to be givin in the future, but I sincerely find that hard to believe. Why are we given these so called “gifts” if what they do is cause pain? Why would I ever need them? Yes, I’m grateful but just confused. Well, in support of all that is good and pure, I hope to find my way in life…though it is confusing where I should start? Dear EarthTalk: What are “eco-villages?” I’ve heard of one in New York near Ithaca and another one called Arcosanti being built in Arizona.  – Jim Killian, Brookline, MA

Eco-villages are essentially designed communities intending to be socially, economically and ecologically sustainable. Environmentalist Joan Bokaer developed the vision for the first eco-village, which would eventually be built on the outskirts of Ithaca, New York, while on a continent-wide walk for sustainability across the United States in 1990. In Context magazine publisher Robert Gilman helped refine the concept through his research, writing and speaking on the topic. In 1996, the first residents moved into the EcoVillage at Ithaca, and a movement was born. According to the nonprofit Global Ecovillage Network, some 420 eco-villages exist in both urban and rural settings around the world today.

The defining characteristics of an eco-village, according to Robert Gilman’s seminal 1991 article, “The Eco-Village Challenge,” include “human-scale, healthy and sustainable development, full-featured settlement, and the harmless integration of human activities into the natural world.” Gilman also said that eco-villages should limit their populations to 150 individuals, which is the maximum size for any working social network according to the teachings of sociology and anthropology.

While the term eco-village did not come into common usage until the 1990s, the concept may in fact be older. Arcosanti, a self-described “experimental town” in the high desert of Arizona, 70 miles north of Phoenix, has been under construction since 1970 and eventually will be the home of some 5,000 forward-thinking residents. In keeping with the concept of clustered development so as to maximize open space and the efficient use of resources, the large, compact structures and large-scale solar greenhouses of Arcosanti occupy a small footprint—only 25 acres—within the community’s 4,000-acre “land preserve.”

Italian architect Paolo Soleri designed Arcosanti according to his concept of “arcology” (architecture + ecology), whereby, in his words, “the built and the living interact as organs would in a highly evolved being.” Underpinning the concept is that “many systems work together, with efficient circulation of people and resources, multi-use buildings, and solar orientation for lighting, heating and cooling.”

Those interested in learning more can attend a four-week workshop at Arcosanti to study building techniques and arcological philosophy, while getting a chance to contribute to the city’s ongoing construction. To date, some 5,000 participants have all had a hand in the construction of Arcosanti.

Some other “intentional communities” designed with sustainability in mind around North America include Cobb Hill in Vermont, Vegan in Hawaii, Dancing Rabbit in Missouri, Maitreya in Oregon, Dreamtime in Wisconsin, Paz in Texas, Earthaven in North Carolina, Prairie’s Edge in Manitoba and Kakwa in British Columbia. Superstitions are rarely founded on fact, but occasionally there is something to what seems like an irrational belief.  This visitor discovered that there is some truth to the stories about peacock feathers. Although Peacocks are honoured as good fortune and associated with royalty, glory and resurrection, their feathers can be unlucky… perhaps the peacock is such a regal and powerful totem, that it demands that even its feathers be honoured by leaving them in their natural environment.

I am writing is in regards to the superstitions about peacock feathers being kept indoors. I personally am a lover of peacocks, being such beautiful and protective creatures. I was so happy a few years ago when a friend of the family gave me a large bunch of peacock feathers. I was still in school at the time and was into lots of different types of superstitions, i.e. wicker, meditations, egyption oracles…etc. I dabbled in quite a few different things. I found my life to be average at that time… always found I had to strive harder than most to get where I knew I had to be. I was known to be clumsy, constantly late, and the bearer of general bad luck. Things never seemed to go right for me.

I read on the internet one day about peacock feathers and being the cause of bad luck when being kept in the house… I immediately realized that I had my peacock feathers kept in my bed room for quite a long time by this time. When I thought about it, my luck seemed to have diminished not long after receiving them from our friend. I quickly discarded them…though i was reluctant as I loved them so much, I knew they had to go.

All I can say about it, is it was a strange feeling when I walked back into my bedroom from throwing them in the trash outside. I felt a warm sensation and a feeling of being relaxed. When i sat on my bed things just felt ‘better’.

I noticed in the weeks that passed, I wasn’t being late for school, I was getting work done alot easier and my mind didn’t feel so crowded. I knew from this that it had to be true. The feathers were just holding things back for me. I tell you now, I don’t believe supersitions easily, hence why I have tried so many things. I find I need proof of something to be real… and this experience definitely proved it for me. I now warn people about keeping peacock feathers inside… though i tell them i had them in my room…which I’m not sure if it makes a difference. I just know from my experience, I will never keep peacock feathers again, instead i will simply enjoy their beauty where they belong…on their owner. I just returned home after a busy “world win” tour to the northeast and midwest that had so many highlights that I couldn’t list them all in a short newsletter. One of the high points was a Course In Laughter weekend workshop at the Rowe Conference Center in Massachusetts.

I want to focus on one breakthrough moment in that workshop, because it offers a helpful, positive direction at a time when negativity fills the news. One of the important intentions of the workshop — which is subtitled “The Art of Situational Comedy” — is to help individuals use the magic of humor to reframe life challenges in an empowering way. One of the participants was a woman who, facing retirement in a few years, was concerned that she might not have the health and financial well being to enjoy it. The way she put it was, “I don’t want to be incapacitated during my declining years.”

Someone else in the workshop then made a suggestion that it might be more helpful to focus on what we do want rather than what we don’t. So we offered her a new intention: “How can I be fully capacitated during my inclining years?” We all had a good hearty laugh, but that was nothing compared to what happened the following morning. The woman performed an entire routine — involving mime, the white board and the spoken word — that evoked laughter, and tears. She was entirely transformed, as she now had a positive intention she was living into.

I knew how she felt because something quite similar happened to me about a month ago. I got a call from a woman named Jacquelyn Aldana who wanted some comedy coaching to spice up her presentation. To give me some background, she sent me her book and her workbook, The 15-Minute Miracle. As I read through this deceptively-simple book, I realized some truths that I had heard many times before but hadn’t integrated.

I realized I had fallen into the habit of basing my mood on external events, rather than choosing an intentional internal state. I began to use gratitude as the “karma fuel” to generate these good feelings within, and quickly began to notice positive changes in all aspects of my life. I had read works by Gregg Braden and others about how feelings provided the energy behind prayers, but this was the first time I actually experienced it myself.

So … when the woman in my workshop offered up the ominously negative projection for her future, I was able to playfully guide her into a positive projection instead. This is not the same as “positive thinking,” which too often involves covering over the negative with an “everything is great” facade, which is merely a form of denial. However, when we acknowledge the negative AND put our emotional energy into a fully-felt representation of what we want instead, we transform the “awful truth” into an “awesome opportunity.”

As a nation and a world, we are facing profound and undeniable challenges. The predicted collapse of our economic house of credit cards has just occurred (with the bail out the dollar is worth slightly less than a dollar in Monopoly money … Swami calls this “homeopathic money” with just ethereal trace elements of actual value), and what a great opportunity this is to recreate it based on real value. (In Spontaneous Evolution, Bruce Lipton and I offer some simple “new rules” for economy, based on the efficient natural economy of nature and the human body.)

More importantly, this is an opportunity for us collectively to face the negative, and at the same time infuse our healthier scenarios with emotional juice. In the next few days, the Department of Heartland Security will make some announcements that will offer new, positive and practical directions for us to take as individuals, as a nation, and as a world.

Nancy Bradley - Celebrity Psychic of Ghost Girls www.ghostgirls.net and Robert Reppert of Gold Rush Ghosts www.goldrushghosts.com receive a phone call from Amy Lynn and Vincent Scotto. A frantic Amy explains to Nancy that her home is haunted. Nancy explains to me what the situation is and asks if I would take on the assignment. I agree. I immediately started looking through my dossier of possible paranormal investigators for this case. Amy wants her story told. I decided to bring along the following: Chantal Apodaca, Lia La Bella, Tony Gold and Leatherface. Tony Gold and Leatherface would be able to document any paranormal events for their production company - Off-the-Hook TV.

Tagging along with us would be the media from Stockton, representing the Stockton Record: Christine & Paul J. Taylor. The road to Arnold is a long road. There is a certain part of the road, I call the roller coaster ride road. The road goes up and then it goes down, up and down…well, you get the picture. We past by Murphys and I glance at the very haunted Murphy’s Hotel, a place I once visited, but never investigated. Murphy’s Hotel first opened in 1856. It is 83 miles southeast of Sacramento. It has hosted notable guests including Mark Twain, John Jacob Astor, and President Ulysses S. Grant. Manager Roxana McClelland says that ghosts are really active and plenty of strange happenings such as “lights on in rooms and signs that someone has been on a bed, even though no one has rented the room and the door was locked.”

I was tempted to take my crew into Murphy’s Hotel, but decided it was getting late and we needed to get to Arnold, where Amy Lynn Scotto (occupant) would be waiting for us at a Chevron Station at Arnold. Amy was patiently waiting for us and lead us to her gorgeous two-story home in Arnold. We met her husband Vincent and her two playful black Labradors.

On this night, Christine, Leatherface and I would conduct our interview with Amy by pen and notepad, recorder and video recorder. After the interview, teams would be split up to investigate the 2nd floor bedrooms and basement where there was the most activity. Later, lights would be turned off and a second round of investigations would commence. After the 2nd investigation sweep, then we would perform a seance in the most haunted bedroom on the 2nd floor.

Interviewing Amy, we discovered:
They lived in this home for 3.5 years.

In the first 2 or 3 months living in this home, they started to witness activity.

Amy once went into the back room and felt hands on her back.

Amy feels she is a sensitive and has identified 3 entities. Timothy - a 7-year old, an entity that followed Amy to this new home from the place she once lived. The second entity is the ex-girlfriend of Vincent that followed Vincent to this new home. The third entity has always been here. The entity is a black shadow, only the head and torso can be seen and it appears to be a male. Amy feels the third entity is a negative entity.

Amy discovered she was a sensitive at the age of 8 years old.

Amy brought objects from her other home to this new home and feels Timothy followed her to this home, because he was attached to the objects she had brought over.

Amy said at the other home, there was paranormal activity. The stove would come on, on its own. The thermostat would turn on, on its own.

While at this home, one of the strangest incidents is that her friend was sleeping on the bed in the most haunted bedroom n the second floor and was pushed off the bed by Timothy.

Her home is located near a powerline, a good conduit for energy consumption, if there are entities in her home.

People in her home, have felt hands on their backs.

People have felt cold chills in her home.

The thermostat will change temperatures on its own.

Moving shadows have been seen on the second floor steps.

Diane the entity has actually talked to Amy and told her to calm down during stressful times and will comfort her.

Diane will pat Amy on the back during the comforting stage.

Footsteps have been on heard on the second floor and their cat will stare at areas of the house where there is nothing there.

With my interview with Vincent, he has only witnessed the thermostat changing temperatures and had a professional electrician look at the wiring and there was nothing wrong with the wiring of the home.

FINDINGS:
Note: I will not try to identify each investigator to what they saw, I will keep the identity of the investigators generic, because it would be too hard to try and identify what investigator experienced what. Even though their were many experiences, the investigation is inconclusive and hard evidence that this home is haunted is elusive. Further studies of this house is warranted.

During our investigation of this home, the following incidents occurred:
The rocking chair on the second floor rocked on its own for a period of 30 seconds and then stopped, this was witnessed by one investigator and one occupant. This occurred during the time that Leatherface was filming upstairs and the rocking chair area became distorted. Leatherface’s video went off during the rocking of the chair, no evidence is obtained of this event.
One investigator felt a sharp coldness on her hand as she investigated the basement.

Seance Activities:
Strange movements were heard in the attic. When looking in the attic, no signs of an animal could be found. The roof is unobtainable to wildlife. The attic was exceptionally clean. Note: These strange movements were also heard during the initial investigation by 4 investigators.
We asked the entities if they could tap on the wall - everyone in the seance heard a minor one tap on the wall. The taps occurred perhaps 14 times. To indicate intelligence, we asked for 2 taps. Two investigators claim to have heard 2 slight taps on the wall, while other investigators did not hear it.
Two investigators claimed to have seen a multicolored orb cross the wall with their own eyes, while other investigators did not see it.
Two investigators claimed to have heard footsteps in the hallway, while others did not hear it.
Two investigators heard a muffled sound of either a woman or child, while others did not hear it.
Walkie talkes were set up in the seance and no transmissions took place.
Paul conducted a hedge of protection prayer on the two seances that were conducted this evening. Two lighted candles were placed in the seance circle.
Closing prayer was performed.
Facilitators for the seance were conducted by Chantal, Lia and Amy.

Investigation & Seance Final Results to this date: Inconclusive. Pending are any EVP results.

Equipment used: Two video cameras, 4 digital cameras, 3 digital recorders, 1 temperature gauge.

Paul Dale Roberts, Lead Investigator’s Final Comments:
I believe there could be activity at this home, but plausible explanations need to be looked at further, such as wildlife activity near the home. Raccoons, opossums, deer were seen outside of the home. Since the investigation lasted throughout the night, fatigue may have set in for most of the investigators, causing sensations and visual sightings to occur that could have been misinterpreted. EVPs are still pending from this investigation. Digital photographs display unusual orb activity and in one case a strange shadow configuration near a curtain. Orb photographs cannot be deemed paranormal, unless some type of intelligent response by orb(s) can be obtained. I would say this is a House of Mystery, because there was activity that was seen or felt, that people could perceive as ‘paranormal’. As I left this family and their home, I could only wonder at the activity I had witnessed. What was real and what was not real? Like I said, this is a House of Mystery. The Ghost Girls - Nancy Bradley and Shannon McCabe are waiting for the final EVP results of this investigation.

As a ghosthunter and paranormal investigator, I am often asked this question: “Why do ghosts linger around one location?” My answer: “Theory has it, that when a person dies, they may have been very religious, they see the light and instead of going into the light, they think of their past sins. They feel that if they enter the light, that they will be judged and may face Hell, eternal damnation. So, they have the option of not going into the light.

What then happens, the ‘ghost police’, or entities from a higher power, call them angels if you may, tell the new ghost, that if they do not go into the light, that they are trapped within the confines of the home, business or a place that they are familiar with. An energy grid is placed over the area, in which this new ghost doesn’t have the ability of escaping. It could be a situation in which a grandmother has unfinished business, because her granddaughter is expecting and she dies without seeing the baby. She decides not to go into the light, because she wants to see the baby born. She sees the baby and falls in love with the baby and decides to stick around to watch over the baby, instead of going into the light. When an entity goes into the light, that’s usually it, they are never seen again. Theory has it, that if you take an object from a haunted home and place it in your home, then you opened up a portal, or a ghostly wormhole for the entity to travel from point A (the haunted home) to point B (to your home). This is the only time a ghost can follow you home, because you have taken an item that this entity is fond of and the energy of this entity engulfs the object.

 On March 1st, 2008 I gave birth to a baby girl, Emerson Rose.  Before Emers was born, several different intuitives, and a 4-year-old girl, told me that I would only have 1 child in this life and that it would be a girl.  One psychic even went so far as to stumble over this child’s name, “do you know an Em…. Emma…. Emmy…. I can’t quite get the name, but I’m getting an Em or Emma or something.  Maybe Emily?” This was 3 years before she came to me.  At the time I loved the name Emily, but before she arrived all of my friends named their daughters Emily, so I abandoned the name.  Then, as Rich and I were trying to find a name, a friend of mine suggested a name from our “boys list” (Emerson) and a name from our “girls list” (Rose)….. Emerson Rose.  Rich loved it and so did I. It was the only one we could agree on…….so…….I feel as though she has been trying to tell me she’s been on the way.

Now that she’s here, in the little time I’ve had with her on this earth, she has exhibited some extraordinary behaviors.  She’s extremely sensitive to other’s energy, especially mine.  She knows how others are feeling and reacts to that.  She also has AMAZING eyes.  Sometimes she  looks at me and I feel like I’m being taken somewhere.  She is quite smart and sometimes she tells me things without fussing, whining, or even signaling.  I’m not sure how I knew what she needed.  I am quite sure she sees angels and when I at least attempt to play with them, she laughs and reacts.  She is fascinated with her hands and their movement.  She sings for hours as she plays. Her personality is VERY tempered and calm and happy.  We RARELY have an outburst from her.  I had an extremely easy pregnancy, birth, and so far she’s been NOTHING  like the horror stories I’ve heard from my friends. 

I’m sorry to babble, but I just want you to have information on how she is…because I’ve read about indigoes and I stumbled onto something called Crystal Children.  I THINK Emerson is a Crystal Child in every way, but I am not sure.  I’m hoping that I’m not so in love with this child that I’m erroneously dubbing her with a pious labels. I want to know for sure.  Is there a way YOU can find out?  If not is there someone I can ask?  If she is, what should I do about raising her??? Your help would be appreciated. ~E

There is no way to say for sure… one day science will finally detect the changes in DNA that these little ones are bringing in with them…. and also, at such a young age, I am most reluctant to put labels on these kids… I have an interview coming up on our radio show with PM Atwater - the author of some very good books about these special children - look her up on the web.. she also discourages the use of labels… rather, stay focused on the now with this child, be present with her, noticing and observing… learn what you can about communicating with spirits and angels and being psychic so you can be prepared to support her as she matures…and in the meantime, do all you can to create a loving space around her so that she can do what she came here to do… make sure she eats well and has music and colour and laughter around her… respect who she is as she is and you will have done the best job possible for her… and try to take her a little for granted in the sense that you want her to accept whatever abilities she has as “normal” - in other words, don’t be surprised or impressed with what she can do, but honour it, accept it, support her by trusting and believing in her and the angels and guides around her. I have a son named Marv (which means “Miracle”) who turned 8 yrs old last Jan. 9.  His father, Conrad, and I are not married and don’t even live together.  Marv doesn’t know who his real dad is at the moment but he surely is a carbon copy of his dad.  He is quite intelligent also for he always receive an honor certificate every quarter in school.

I really find it weird that for several times I quarrel with Conrad, my son gets sick. Coincidence?  I’m not sure at all. 

Last year, I was diagnosed to have an ovarian cyst.  I aked my son, out of the blues, to pray for me so that my cyst would go away. I asked him to place his hand in  my belly while he prays. After three months, my cyst was gone.

 My father, who fell ill at the time, was hospitalized.  My son cried and prayed for his granpa to get well soon. After a series of tests, my Dad went out of the hospital with no findings at all from all the tests made.

 Our pet dog ate something not good, got sick and he looks like he won’t make it through the night.  My son prayed for his pet dog to get well.  By the next morning, the dog was up as if nothing was wrong with him the day before.

Then last May 2007, Conrad underwent surgery for gall stone.  A month later, he underwent another surgery anf this time for brain tumor.  Before his 2nd operation, my son placed his hand on the head of his Tito Conn and prayed.  They were actually close  and that my son was really worried about him.  And almost daily, during bed time, Marv keeps praying for his dad’s recovery.  6 days after the open brain surgery, Conrad left the hospital with not much complications but recurring headaches which he was assured were normal.

I am not so sure but I think, my son has a gift of prayer.  Is there really such a thing?

7 months after, January 24,2008, Conrad and I had some misunderstanding of which he decided that it is time we move on our separate lives.  My son, who is not aware of what was happening, had slowly lost his  appetite.  I was afraid he might get sick again since I was aware of the precedence from the past. I gave him appetite stimulants to no avail.  Then Marv’s grades in school are starting to drop.  From a second honor certificate down to third honor for that matter.  He also got poor ratings from the national diagnostic tests given last February 2008. Last March 27, 2008, Conrad appeared after two months of separation.  It  was my birthday so he greeted me and had some bonding with Marv again.  They are really close, father and son.  Immediately the next day, Marv got back his appetite again.  I was so thankful that I even texted his dad that it was his presence that triggered back the appetite of his son.

I am just wondering now if there is a psychic connection between Conrad and Marv? I am really confused but I do feel there is that ESP bonding between father and son. Is there such a case same as mine?  Is my son really gifted? Joyce

Dear Joyce, yes your son is probably gifted, and yes there is a special soul connection between father and son…  Although I must point out that each of the incidents you mention could be onsidered co-incidental, there are too many co-incidences to ignore… I think it could be important for son to know who his father is, and for these two to stay connected…  I would also say that your son has more than the gift of prayer, but that he may have some very real healing ability in him… for now you just want to let him be a boy, but as time passes I would encourage you to get him involved in learning Reiki, and studying the works of some of the famous healers… Adam comes to mind, a young man with some amazing abilities, you can look him up on the web… Hope that helps some,, Lotsa LLLove, Danielle

Thanks for the response.  I truly appreciate it. You just confirmed my long time hunch of connectivity between father and son.  I informed the dad, Conrad, about it and he shared with me his family background. With regards to the special gift my son have, I was told that the grandfather of Conrad,  who passed away about 45 years ago, was a known psychic healer from his hometown in Cavite.  His method of healing includes laying of the hands to a particular part of an ailing body while praying, plus “hilot”, which is some sort of therapeutic massage.  (The laying of the hands and at the same time praying is what my son usually do.)

Is there a connection concerning the special gift my son have now with that of his great grandfather? Is it hereditary?  I believe in reincarnation.  Is there a posibility of reincarnation here? Joyce

Many different labels have neen attached to this new breed arriving amongst us now: “indigo”, “crystal, “rainbow”. I have called them the children  of the light, others simply call them “the new children”.  I believe that many of today’s children are born with a subtle difference in their DNA that enable them to access the deeper/higher creative and healing powers that lie dormant within each of us.

 My mother recently I was told by that she suspects me to be an “Indigo Child,” I’d have to say I’m not a child anymore, I’m 20 years old and thus far have accomplished more than most anybody my age. From birth I always knew I was different, I never had many friends, not that I didn’t care for anyone it was because of my very abusive father. I sort of strayed away and did my own thing because I have felt that I’ve never needed anyone. School was always a challenge for me. I could never focus and even today it’s hard to focus on certain tasks but I always managed to be an A student- a toast to whatever that adds up to. I don’t think a grade should identify a person’s level of knowledge. Ever since i got my first CD and saw my first concert i always knew I wanted to be a famous singer/musician and now I am currently in the band ”dreadnought” and plan to take this band and its music to the highest level. I want people to read and hear my lyrics and apply them into their own lives and inspire them in whatever way I can. I love to write poetry and art, the beauty of such things makes me yearn for more though sometimes my depression factors in and I get sick with indecision and unbalanced thoughts within. You can ask anyone associated with me, I’m one of the most motivated and determined person but I get truly enraged when i feel my work isn’t progressing me any farther. Medically I have been diagnosed with many different things and as of one year ago I completely dropped any medication. My diagnoses are, bipolar, add, adhd, severe depression w/suicidal tendencies and severe anxiety. I say forget all that but my mind does race and when i feel at a loss I become depressed like a deflating balloon would. When it comes to feelings I have always, since I was a kid, been very in tune with myself and even others close to me. I want to say I feel everything which would be my explanation for why my body and mind feel turmoil sometimes. There have been many incidents where I’ve encountered some sort of psychic ability. A few months back my drummer and long time good friend up and left the band and me and moved to Missouri to live with his mother. He said he was finding himself and God.  I then told my other friend that I fear something is going to happen in his family, something very dramatic and ending. A couple weeks later i was told his mother has been diagnosed with cancer. Either way, I’m not trying to brag but I do know that there is something special inside of me, be it classified as “indigo” or whatever. It’s nice to read on the idea and finally bring a little explanation to the heaven and hell battle I deal with daily yet am doing my best to control in hope of accomplishing my goals as a well known singer/musician and writer and to succeed greatly in this life from my birth into poverty and abuse.  To prove that greatness can come from nothing.
