Loving means listening with your heart… creating that Space of Love that contains the power to dissolve differences, conquer fears and heal old pains.

Consider the nature of true, pure love…

I often say that love is actually pretty ugly… Love is what brings us out of our deep sleeps to the aid of a sick child, or to help a frightened neighbour, or to be present at a grandparent’s deathbed. Love shows up, no matter what. Love carries us through the bad times… it has substance and strength to it. While it may waiver from time to time, and must be nourished to stay alive, when love is true, pure, unconditional, all it really takes is a small spark to create a roaring fire once again.

Most of us associate romance, attraction, excitement, with being in love – the heart palpitations, butterflies in the tummy, can’t wait to see them next feelings. What turns us on in relationship is about sexual energy, romantic imagery, passion, hope, exhilaration… but while true love has some of this fire in it, true love is much softer, calmer, quieter… True love doesn’t trigger our fears. When passion is expressed in love it leads to a sense of real contentment, a feeling of all being right with the world… and this feeling lasts no matter what else is going down… I don’t know if many of us really know the energy of love in this way… the kind of love that has a constancy and consistency to it, is trusting, sure, quiet, peaceful, nurturing, listening… Continue reading →

Why am I here?

This question first came up for me when I was still a teenager. In college, I studied philosophy in the hopes of finding some answers, but that just brought out more questions. It wasn’t until later in life, when I embraced myself as a spiritual being housed in a physical form, that the answers about the meaning of my life became very clear. I had some important lessons to learn, old karma to settle, and some new patterns to set for myself.

The obvious answer to my question of purpose was that it involves service to others…. as the eldest of 6, I have always felt somewhat responsible for my family, and over the years, also for my extended family, my colleagues, friends and clients…. My “life job” is to do what I can for others, where and when I can…

But as I connected to my soul, I could see other and perhaps more profound purposes underlying that calling to serve… In fact, the service work is simply a means to an end, a way of creating opportunities to achieve more personal goals – the spiritual purposes that I had set for myself, goals focused on healing old wounds, resolving old issues, facing old fears – and building strength, loving unconditionally, living with integrity. Numerology, like astrology, gives us a map of the life we chose live here on earth. It is as if we booked a cruise to go first to Alaska, then to the Sahara, then to Manhattan. This big map is what I call Fate Karma and our free will for this decision was exercised on the other side. Once we are here, we cannot change the ticket we already bought. This is more of an Eastern view as most Westerners like to believe that if we do enough of “The Secret”, we can get what we want. For me, this is like telling a child if s/he wishes hard enough, s/he can indeed get all the candy s/he wants. *¨¨?¨¨*

We chose this life to progress as a soul, when we are on the other side with our guides. For some of us, we chose to come here and have a life of fun. Some of us came here to climb mountains. When people ask me, why would anyone chose to come here and be abused as child (for example), my response to that is, why do people pay money to watch horror movies or television? We come here to have experiences that help us evolve as a soul. This can mean coming here to experience “hardship”, as this can teach us about compassion, surrender, and forgiveness. What do you do when you’re ready to explode?

I am a hot-tempered French Canadian, so when I discovered that my wee boy, even at 2 years old, had a terrible temper, I was really at a loss. Getting upset with him just seemed to make him more powerful… anger begets more anger…. Fortunately, I was given some very good advice early on… his pediatrician suggested that as long as he wasn’t hurting himself or anyone else, I should just let him go for it – I should pretty much ignore him… no point in trying to address the problem while he was in a tantrum… a regular routine for him… he would tour the lving room..knock certain books on the floor, switch the TV on or off, throw the phone off its table and throw all the cushions on the floor…when he was done, I would take him by the hand and quietly lead him around the room to put everything back… to my great surprise, the tantrums soon stopped…. at least for awhile…

Once Pat hit his teens though, his anger problems became increasing difficult, and even dangerous…. and with my French temper, it didn’t take much to escalate a minor dispute into an all-out screaming match.  Crazy-making… We didn’t hit each other, although we wanted to, but the holes in the walls and the broken windows in our home were clear evidence of the violence that was in him… As I psychic and spiritual advisor, I was especially concerned about the negative energy that is generated when people explode in anger… I could see how Pat’s angry energy infected our home and our lives, even my business. There was nothing for it but to learn how to manage my own anger more effectively so I could diffuse these tantrums much more quickly… Continue reading →
