Amy Winehouse and the Astrology of Turning 27

By Phil, the Astrologer

The recent passing of Amy Winehouse got the TV’s talking heads puzzled by the fact that she was 27, as was Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain when they all melted down. It was no real surprise though for a clueful astrologer because 27 can be a difficult age for anyone, largely involving the Moon‘s movements. Continue reading →

What’s our take on Saturday’s Super Moon?

From Phil the astro-geek

 I’ll let y’all know on the 20th.

Seriously though, like I wrote about in my March forecast, the New Moon of March 4 was about asking for protection because the next couple of months are all about wrapping up unfinished business and unresolved issues from last Summer’s Cardinal Cross, the BP oil spill as one collective example, a nuclear melt-down in Japan for another one at this time. It’s never good juju to predict natural or human-made calamities but life/death/rebirth Pluto is still the center of attention as the focus of that waning T-square, only to be getting a bit (?) more intense from now and into June. We sensitive folk have been dealing with some serious health issues lately (no?), unfortunately befitting “as above, so below,” perhaps an occupational hazard of living on the spiritual (unseen) front lines. Can We Change our Destiny?

Life works in strange ways. There are many theories about life some concuring and others contradicting each other. I live in a country that has astrology deeply rooted so its rather difficult for one to think that destiny and fate can be changed with our efforts and decisions when ones future is already predicted. Are we fooling ourselves to think that we are in control whereas we are merely led to making decisions that determine our course of life controled by our Karma.

Hi there, Phil the (American) astrologer here.
Astrology can inded be a predictive discipline or craft, an art even, but I don’t believe the future is in any way etched in stone. Continue reading →

My Cardinal Cross Story

Whew, I knew the Cardinal Cross was having a powerful effect on us when I first noticed a very clear and strong trend both in my own life and the lives of my clients and friends.  Old, and often complicated issues from the past were rising to the surface once again, but this time with opportunities to introduce creative new solutions. The Cardinal Cross of Julya and August

Let’s put the end of the Mayan calendar on the back burner for a few months because this Summer’s main astrological event is the entire concept of 2012. We’re here-and-now and the Mayans are not for some very significant and mysterious reasons, so let’s learn to accept and own this simple fact. Let’s also assume that the Mother Ship is not coming to take us home, we need to look at our real-time planets – doing real-time stuff – in order to move fearlessly into our real-time future.

The key here is fearlessness, no matter how scary things may seem at the present. The future belongs to the fearless – just like it always has – and no human memorial has ever been erected commemorating cowardice. It’s really that simple.

The Cardinal Cross, especially potent in the last week of July and the first week of August, consists of Jupiter conjoining Uranus in the Cardinal Fire of Aries, both opposing (180°) Saturn and Mars in Cardinal Air Libra, with all square (90°) Pluto in Cardinal Earth Capricorn. (If it were only that simple…) Such a configuration of the outer planets Saturn, Uranus and Pluto (not to mention Jupiter and Mars) has not been seen in at least the past two thousand years, and nowhere near as intensely focused and strong in the first four degrees of each of these Cardinal signs.
