Here is a page out of my book I am working on. This outlines the correlations between the cards and gemstones. The Tarot is known as the Path of the Fool. It is a valid path of Initiation that goes way back to ancient Egypt. Think about who was the only person allowed to criticize the king or queen. It was the Court Jester, the Fool, the first card in the Tarot deck. It is through the Comedy of Life that we survive. If you can’t laugh about it, you are a goner! The Path of the Fool follows the old troubadour tradition of medieval Europe.

THE WAY OF THE FOOL
The word Tarot means “The Royal Road”. It refers to the alchemy of Life, the word alchemy coming from the two words, Al and Khem. The word Al is Egyptian for the Law and the Khem is the old term for Egypt, in other words, the Law of Egypt. The Tarot is also called the “Book of Thoth”. Thoth was the Egyptian god of learning, mathematics, astronomy, and magick. It is from this word, Thoth, that we derive our English word, thought. Therefore, the “Book of Thoth” is the “Book of Thoughts”, “The Book of How to Think”.

A truly facinating topic. I think I will have to look into this a lot more.
