Is there a tarot genie that controls the number of shuffles or the cards you pick and can you change your destiny?

In a sense, there is a kind of Tarot genie, but not the way you are suggesting in your question.  The Tarot is magical.  It is more than a tool for divining the future. There is an energy to the cards that tells me there are ancient spirits that are connected with the Tarot, working with the reader to help them sense the messages contained in the reading. But it is the reader who decides how to prepare the cards for a reading, up to the reader to sense when the cards are ready and this comes from training and experience, building a relationship with the cards so they can begin to speak to the reader. What defines a psychic? Is it just extreme mental training?

I don’t think it’s really possible to define what being psychic is – it just is – at least for me it is. As soon as you try to define anything it gets destroyed, meaning that it can’t become anything else. A huge part of it is just trust, and I think there are at least two significant things going on here, so I’ll relate my own story to see if it answers any questions for you.

First is a sense I’ve had since I was very young of feeling like I didn’t belong in my family, school, church, with most of the other kids, etc. I didn’t think anyone could understand what I was thinking or sensing, that there were energies surrounding me that I couldn’t understand for myself. A name carried the essence of the power and spirit of its owner, hence in many faiths the true Name of God is a great mystery, shrouded in oblique references and rarely spoken aloud.  In the Jewish faith, only the High Priest pronounces the Name of God. The belief is that the power of the name of God is such that the whole world will be struck dumb if it were shouted out loud, hence the vital necessity to keep it a secret. In Islam too, there are 99 names of God, plus one more, unknown name, the Greatest Name. God and the Name of God are identical and to know all these names enables a person to enter Heaven. The idea that a posy of flowers could convey a secret meaning particularly between lovers, was originally an Eastern concept, although the flower as divine messenger is an ancient concept.
