The planet Mercury went retrograde on Oct 28 and doesn’t return to forward motion until Nov 17. Some have called the Mercury Retrograde periods “astrology’s Murphy’s Law”. The usual warnings apply: Try to avoid signing any contracts in this time, and do not make any life changing decisions. Plan for be delays and detours with travel, and be sure computer files are backed-up. There could be communication issues, so take special care with instructions and directions in this cycle. This is the time for all that “re” work, exploring the past, re-evaluating and rethinking plans and strategies.

According to Phil and a number of other astrologers that I researched today, this is no ordinary retrograde. In his words “this is no cookie-cutter Merc retro. It’s all happening in Scorpio where cookie-cutters don’t exist. Mercury will be going retrograde and hitting all the other inner planets once and then again over the months. The fact that Mercury preceded all of them (except Jupiter) into Scorpio indicates that by leading the parade, this upcoming month will be quite different than a usual Merc retro. Anyone that has a sensitive planet or point in Scorpio (or opposite in Taurus) can expect to have various levels of shocks throughout. That’s why I tried to keep my read on Sun in Scorpio so generalized, to give a feel for the sign instead of particulars. Introspection for everyone with anything in Scorpio would be in order, and that’s just about everybody. Shining a psychic flashlight into the dark places is the most appropriate metaphor I could come up with.”
 I am also picking up a sense that “something is up” in this cycle. We’ve received a number of subtle signals that this month could bring some unpleasant surprises.
