Crystals and gemstones each carry a different energy, energy that will focus and even boost the power of your thoughts, meditations and prayers. Here we offer some useful insights on various crystals, the energy they carry and how they can influence you and your environment. Check in weekly as Christopher adds new genstones to this page.
Crystals and Gemstones of the Week
You just got home from the gem show or the rock shop with a sack full of crystals and now have to figure out what to do with them. Well, this is what The Crystal Files is all about, what to do with these crystals! First order of things to do is to cleanse those crystals you brought home.
Cleansing your crystals is important. Quartz will withstand cleansing with water and salt, but not all mineral crystals can withstand water and salt. Other crystals such as calcite and selenite (gypsum crystal) do not do well with water. They will dissolve in H2O, so you have to be careful. Quartz crystal is basically a tough mineral (hardness of 8) and will withstand both water and salt. Other crystallized minerals should be researched as to their chemical content and reaction potential.
Sunlight is best recommended for cleansing, as it is not reactive and will not dissolve your crystal. But beware; do not place your crystal in direct sunlight. The crystal will act as a magnifying glass and start a fire! I have known people who have burned their houses down because they placed a crystal in the window. Moonlight is safer, but not as effective.
Cleansing your crystals frees them up from past vibrations and prepares them for your personal use. You can even cleanse them by ceremony. Smudge them with sage and/or juniper. Cleanse them simply by focused intent and prayer. Whatever method you choose will work just fine, but do make the effort to “clear” your crystals before use.
As you cleanse your crystals you can program them at the same time. Take each crystal and designate a purpose for that crystal. We will discuss certain types of crystals for particular functions and purposes in the future of the Crystal Files.
Quartz is king, so your first crystals should be of quartz. They are the best and most utilitarian crystals. They are readily available. Our whole 21st century world revolves around quartz crystal. All computers are quartz powered. As time goes by we will explore the wonderful world of many mineral crystals. They come in all colors and variety. Diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, rubies, tourmalines, topaz, citrine, amethyst, etc. are all crystals! Stay tuned for more info.
