The Astrology of 2010

With Predictions by Phil

Forecast for 2010 (all times EDT/ EST with predictions throughout).

Note to our readers: I missed this piece when Phil first submitted it, found it weeks later... however, when I read it, I felt it was worth publishing... knowing the energy that prevailed as we opened the year gives us a good clue of what we can expect. Think of how you celebrated the Solstice and the New Year as you read Phil's notes on "Preparing for 2010".

Many folks create or participate in rituals for new beginnings like at a New Moon, a Holy day, or on New Year's Eve. Intentional rituals ask (or pray) for specific outcomes that we want to make manifest in our lives, putting the energy "out there" in the hopes that our higher selves - however we think of them - will hear our pleas and come through for us. Rituals can only work if our intentions are of the purest caliber, especially if our rituals are prefaced with the Universal mandate of "first, harm no one."

Astrology can provide us with the proper timing of a ritual, for when our purest of intentions have a much better chance of working for us. For instance, a properly conducted ritual for new beginnings at a New Moon can allow us to be emotionally prepared for the Full Moon two weeks later, hopefully full-filling our New Moon's intentions. The Sun moving into a new sign can show us the opportunities and challenges of the next four weeks, and the Sun moving into Capricorn at the Winter Solstice can show us the tendencies for the next year, at least it can for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere. The Solstice (Yule, the shortest day of sunlight) was a time that our distant ancestors honored as the beginning of the new year.

Midnight on December 31 has no astrological significance whatsoever. This date was artificially derived in the 16 th century when the Gregorian calendar became a humanly created law. It was a clumsy yet effective attempt to essentially distance humanity from the rhythms of the natural world and the ostensibly "evil" practices of paganism and astrology. Even the year zero, when Jesus was alleged to have been born, was only a guess, making 2010 a relatively random number.

Each moment for new beginnings has a "birth" chart, showing us the potentials and challenges for the next year. This gives us two choices for when we want to ritualize new beginnings for 2010, the traditional Solstice (Yule) of December 21, or the Muggles' midnight of December 31. 2010 promises to be one of those "best of times, worst of times" kind of years, so it all depends on which annual birth chart we want to give birth to - which birth chart we want to own for ourselves. It should be a no-brainer, right? Correct - go right to the head of the class.

Both birth charts feature the challenges of an approaching Saturn square to Pluto, the first such square since 1974. This challenging power-play between responsibility (Saturn) for life and death (Pluto) matters has been gaining strength the past couple of months, both on personal levels and on the global stage. This Saturn/Pluto square will be one of the main challenges for all of humanity in 2010, the details of which are coming in my annual forecast. Both charts also include the beginning of a retrograde Mars in Leo, a major ego check in its own right.

The birth chart for midnight December 31 is very problematic for a number of reasons. First because Mercury will be retrograde, having begun it's retrograde cycle on December 26. Second, there is only one faintly "positive" or beneficial aspect in it, a wide and ineffectual trine (120° away) between the Moon and agent of change Uranus. Even more challenging is a partial Lunar eclipse that will be exact about ten hours (EST) before the ball drops in Times Square, with the Moon more exactly opposed a retrograde Mercury at that Dick Clark moment. I don't know about you, but I don't want a Mercury retrograde or an eclipse of any kind foreshadowing a whole year. It would be far better to leave that kind of energetic for the Muggles to contend with, kind of like disabling the brakes in our cars on the top of a steep hill.

On the other hand, the birth chart for Yule on December 21 has Mercury still moving direct with a more significant development happening elsewhere, our celestial Santa Claus Jupiter precisely conjoining spiritual Neptune earlier in the day. This will be a fitting send-off for the astrological event of 2009, the Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune communion (J/C/N) of this past May and June. In case you haven't been reading these forecasts this past year, the J/C/N of 2009 has been signaling the official Dawning of the Aquarian Age, just three short years before the end of the Mayan calendar.

The J/C/N has been promising the beginnings of some big-time (Jupiter) spiritual (Neptune) healing (Chiron) for the progressively aware, while delivering overblown (Jupiter) delusional (Neptune) pains (Chiron) for the soul-starved and regressively stupid, folks who have been actively denying their karmic responsibilities in the name of greedy selfishness. Simply put, Jupiter conjoining and passing by Neptune at Yule can bring us a growing sense of a spiritual affirmation for whichever side of the parallel Universe we want to be on when the defining moments of 2010 come along - not so much for when December 31 arrives - too little and too late.

Also at the precise moment of Yule, when the Sun enters Capricorn at 12:47 PM EST, the Moon will have joined the rekindling J/C/N communion, all within five degrees of each other - the Moon adding an emotionally charged call for spiritual healing in major ways. All four will be widely sextile (60° away) the Sun, Pluto and Venus, showing us the escape route out of the slightly separated Saturn/Pluto square. In other words, leave the selfish power-plays to the Muggles, it will be time to activate the self-less Age of Aquarius.

Venus is also trine (happy!) Mars at Yule, so relatively soon after they were square each other (not so happy) in the past month. This beneficial Venus/Mars trine of Yule will have separated by a full ten degrees on December 31, another major reason to ritualize the New Year at Yule.

One last bit for favoring Yule over December 31 involves Mercury and Uranus, forming a beneficial sextile to each other with Mercury conjunct (working with) the collective North Node, our combined sense of our destinies. Uranus will be playing a major role in shaping 2010 for better or worse, so it would be helpful to break this aspect down and to start learning how to love Uranus.

The Winged Messenger Mercury represents our direct contact with our life source the Sun, and Mercury conjunct the collective North Node at Yule will be offering some subtle (?) clues about where we're all heading, upward into a spiraling evolution or downward off a cliff. Uranus is all about change, both forced and voluntary, and 2010 guarantees upheavals in droves as Uranus moves into the Aries Fire in May after spending the last eight years in the Piscean spiritual depths.

Mercury rules our intellects, while Uranus represents the higher octave energetic of Mercury. For example, various fleeting inspirations (Mercury) we may be receiving from our life source will mean nothing unless we can put them into practical applications, of which inventive Uranus can provide in profound ways. Put differently, the creative inventor (Uranus) within each of us always has a conceptual epiphany (Mercury) before turning an idea into a new creation, making the leap between Mercurial thought into revolutionary Uranian product or way of life.

Imagine Thomas Edison having a cartoonish light bulb moment, just before he invented an actual light bulb, and you might get a light bulb moment of your own for what can await us in the new year.

Happy Yule everyone, and stay tuned for the full 2010 forecast.

The astrology of 2010 is so complex and so profound that a single forecast cannot do it justice. But I'll try anyway - my Fool's hat is on - stay tuned to the monthly forecasts for further details.

At the very least, 2010 is the next gateway to pass through before we get to 2012. Let's live it one day at a time, otherwise we might miss the true meaning of what the Mayans had in mind for the end of their ancient calendar. No one alive today knows with any certainty what awaits us in just two short years, so it would be a good idea to rely on our past-life memories - our karmic knowledge and basic intuitive instincts - to help guide us into a responsible future.

And beneficially, as if the entire Universe would work in any other way, our greatest planetary teacher Saturn stations (stops) to move retrograde as 2010 begins. This is Saturn's way of offering His professorial syllabus for us within the fifth degree of Venus-ruled Libra, showing the Sabian* image of, "A man revealing to his students the foundation of an inner knowledge upon which a 'New World' could be built... a process of transmission."

One of the key words here is "could" and not "will," as in the New World will not be built by itself. Solely relying upon Divine intervention to build our New World for us is an intellectually lazy way to live, where a lack of knowledge can become quite delusional, just ask any suicide bomber wondering where his promised paradise disappeared to. Any New World will require hard work on our parts, working as if our lives depended on it.

Saturn moving retrograde sets up His fourth and fifth exact opposition to Promethean Uranus in April and July, creating a host of challenges for folks who can't deal with responsible (Saturn) change (Uranus) when our home planet and species needs it the most. But as every exalted spiritual Master throughout history has been trying to tell us, we already possess such an inner knowledge, we simply need to recognize it, own it and work with it. This kind of knowledge can then evolve into a Consciousness of wisdom suitable to Saturn's extended stay in Venus-ruled Libra.

Saturn in Libra is an upcoming three year process - ending in 2012 - of demanding relentless balance from all of us based on cooperation and harmony, uncompromising justice and unconditional love, quite often showing up as the painful tough love of knowing where all of our imbalances are. Libra's ruler Venus is all about the Goddess Consciousness, a way of life in search of a much needed comeback. Herein lies an inner knowledge that all we sane folks can admit to and reclaim as our own.

One thing is for certain, a truly New World cannot be built upon the theological or economic institutions of the Old World. Those foundations are crumbling all around us, in large part due to Pluto's presence in the early degrees of Saturn-ruled Capricorn. The Ruler of the Underworld Pluto becomes the focus of the concluding Saturn/Uranus oppositions in the astrological event of 2010, turning the need for responsible (Saturn) change (Uranus) into a life/death/rebirth proposition, something those same institutions want to keep for themselves as part of the failed and disastrous power-play of their "New World Order."

What's being called for is more of a "New Whirled Order" that will rely on our abilities - our inner knowledge - to unite various bits and pieces of everything we know as a species that is good, peaceful and loving (Libra's ruler Venus), inventive and Divinely inspired (Uranus), transformative about Plutonian matters, and all within the full knowingness of responsible justice (Saturn in Libra).

Such a cosmically Divine non-violent tornado can come out of the skies and touch down within our hearts and minds if we only ask for it, spiraling endlessly within us like the Universal symbol of spiritual completeness as seen in the yin and yang.

Or not - the choices are always ours to make for ourselves. Moving correctly with this peace-filled surge begins by not living in fear of the future - the future that belongs to the fearless - this never-ending loop that guarantees eventual success. Furthermore...

Full Forecast

A major clue about the bigger picture for 2010 can be found in the Mercury retrograde cycles as follows, December 26 to January 15 (from twenty-two to six degrees Capricorn), April 18 to May 11 (from thirteen to three degrees Taurus), August 20 to September 12 (from twenty to six degrees Virgo), and December 10 to 30 from six degrees Capricorn to twenty degrees Sagittarius.

Note that the first three Mercury retrograde cycles occur entirely within Earth signs, and that the fourth begins in an Earth sign. The Good Professor Saturn drives this Earth-focused point home by moving retrograde from Libra back into Earthy Virgo from April 7 to July 21, at once reminding us of where we've been the past two and a half years regarding unfinished business in the climate change department. Saturn will be further exposing the regressive forces against positive change in ways we perhaps can't see coming.

Basic prediction #1

: Saving our Mother Earth will be a predominant theme this year (duh...), especially with Pluto in Cardinal Earth Capricorn as the focus of the astrological event of the year, the so-called "Cardinal Square" occurring in July and August. This square involves the concluding Saturn/Uranus oppositions (180° apart) with Saturn in Cardinal Air Libra, Uranus in Cardinal Fire Aries, and Pluto ninety degrees away from both, acting as the focus of a T-square to both Saturn and Uranus. Such a Cardinal square configuration/alignment hasn't occurred since the year 1240, and at no other time in the past two thousand years.

In other words, Pluto will be almost exactly halfway between Saturn and Uranus in what looks like a pyramid configuration, with Pluto either being at the top of the pyramid or on the bottom, quite like a celestial question of whether or not our species' glass is half empty or half full. Even though the precise moments of the Cardinal Square won't be near to exact until the last week of July and most of August, the entire year will be defined by this Cardinal Square.

Prediction #2:

Defining moments will be all around us this Summer, exponentially more radical than whether or not we're merely being optimistic or pessimistic about the future. For instance, no statue was ever carved to commemorate a cynical person or endeavor, enduring monuments are usually reserved for heroic folks and movements who had transcended the adversities of their times. Heroism is generally the hallmark of an exalted Mars and Jupiter either working in combination (warrior/Mars seeking glory/Jupiter) or in conflict (rebel/Mars vs. ego/Jupiter), which just so happens to be the two wild-card planets of the upcoming Cardinal Square.

Jupiter will be a major hoot in His own right (detailed below) but our inner warrior Mars is a very different story. Between now and the main event of this Summer is Mars moving retrograde and direct throughout the first twenty degrees Leo, moving through His retrograde shadow while picking up the pieces of shattered Leo egos in the process. Particularly through March and April, the primary preparation for the Cardinal Square is knowing exactly where our unnecessary egos went to, way beyond the egos of simply looking good in the mirror before we go off to our various daily wars.

Feeling crushed at any point in the first half of 2010 would be right in tune with the Universal flow of things. How we react and learn from our ego blow-outs is the key to Saturnian wisdom gained from the promised aforementioned inner knowledge, especially in the knowingness of how much ego we really need to be carrying around. And when it comes to Supreme Universal wisdom, the past many years of our lives have been spotlighting the need to be a lot less selfish, and a lot more self-less.

On further personal levels, this Cardinal Square will be especially strong the last week of July and the first half of August, happening in the first few degrees of Libra (Saturn/Venus/Mars), Capricorn (Pluto) and Aries (Uranus/Jupiter). This will be effecting us in major ways especially if we have any sensitive natal planets or points in the early degrees of any sign by transit, square, sextile, trine or opposition. Anyone with anything in Leo is a no-brainer in the ego department, and the Mercury retrograde cycles will also be "fun" for anyone with sensitive stuff in any of the Earth signs or by aspect, and this basically covers everyone. (The following has been a shameless plug for my helpful and humble astrological services!)

As previously mentioned, such a configuration with Saturn, Uranus and Pluto in the Cardinal signs has not occurred since the year 1240, featuring Uranus in a separating square to Pluto, with Mars and Jupiter in very different supporting roles. That era of seven hundred-plus years ago saw a turning point to the various Crusades against the Islamic Middle East and basically, the Popes and politicians of the Catholic church started some wars and - surprise! - nobody showed up. Let's hope that such "moral authority" receives that same sort of ignored recognition throughout the coming year.

Much more recently, Saturn has already started an approaching square to Pluto (concluding in August), the first such square since 1973 - 1974 which saw an oil crisis started by the OPEC nations of the Middle East. This Saturn/Pluto square is the first "hard" aspect between these two since 2001 - 2002 when Saturn and Pluto were opposed each other. The Saturn/Pluto opposition was seen as being "responsible" for the events of 9/11 and the ensuing wars - in the Middle East again - over Pluto-ruled oil, the money-God of our past many generations. It has been no coincidence that opposing forces over the past nine years have referred to these wars as a Crusade and a Jihad, different names for the same thing, oxymoronic "holy wars" espoused by religious morons.

Prediction #3:

There will most probably be another oil crisis this Summer and Autumn, but perhaps caused more by unstable political regimes in Iraq, Iran and other OPEC countries like Nigeria and possibly Venezuela. The need to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels will be highlighted like never before (duh, again), so it would behoove the Creative Class to utilize the Mercury retrograde cycles in the Earth signs to come up with some seriously innovative solutions along the lines of sustainable energy and transportation.

Mercury's higher octave expression is Uranus, two planets that basically turn our inner ideas (Mercury) into actual outer invention (Uranus). The Promethean One enters Aries at a challenging Full Moon on May 27 after spending most of the past seven years in Pisces. Uranus was last in Aries from 1927 to 1935 for the beginning and height of the Great Depression, which many astrologers are predicting will happen again for the global economy in 2010.

They may very well be correct but we shouldn't go there into that doom and gloom. If those kinds of predictions come to fruition, we all lose - even the smiling faces of those who would say "I told you so." The simple fact is that none of the planets mean us any harm, even when they create some unreal and/or surreal aspects with each other. Our human species is better than that - we're either the crown of creation or the height of human evolution - and it's about time we started acting like it.

One thing that is different about the Great Depression and now is that Uranus was moving toward Pluto in an applying square at the time, after Uranus and Pluto had been opposed to each other in 1901 - 1902. Whereas 2010 will be seeing Uranus in a separating square after having been conjunct (working with each other) during the mid Sixties. To find a more appropriate historical precedent, the upcoming separating Uranus/Pluto square was last seen in 1876 to 1877, whose mini era saw the inventions of the electric light bulb, telephone, phonograph and power plant, so monumental innovations of all kinds are to be expected in the very near future. I guess that would be Prediction #4.

Such a separating square - after a conjunction - is generally a time to search for closure to, or reckoning of, whatever was happening during conjunction when Uranus and Pluto were seen as working together. In this case, the mid Sixties was an era of cultural breakdown and breakthrough, unfortunately trending toward the nihilistic due to the combined Pluto/Uranus buzz in Virgo. In many ways, the near future can see a further refinement and elevation of the main movements of the Sixties, from civil, women's and gay rights, the peace and environmental fronts, as well as a further merging of Eastern, Western, and everywhere else, spiritual and cultural revolutions that a New Whirled Order would consist of. At least that's by seeing our species' glass as half full rather than half empty.

While Uranus and Pluto won't be moving into an exact square until June 2012 (!), they'll be square each other in Cardinal signs Capricorn (Pluto) and Aries (Uranus) within three degrees of each other in July, close enough to be felt by all living things. Edison and Bell's era only saw a loose Fixed-sign Cross, a significantly different energetic than what we'll be seeing in our impending Cardinal Cross. In this regard, history doesn't repeat itself by itself, history needs enlightened and Universally inspired individuals to help write history, otherwise we'd call it "no story."

Again, the planetary wild-cards for 2010 (unlike 1876 or 1240) will be Jupiter joining Uranus in Aries this Summer, with Mars (and Venus) simultaneously conjoining Saturn. Jupiter and Uranus by themselves in Mars-ruled Aries lends an insurrection and/or revolutionary feel to the upcoming Cardinal Cross, while Mars and Saturn together in balancing Libra taints the proceedings with a seeming "need" for instant justice. Even Venus in Her ruling sign is conflicted as She approaches Her own retrograde cycle in October and November. That's the downside, and we should never predict or condone fighting in the streets for any reason. On the positive side, Jupiter expanding upon creative Uranus in the Fire of Aries - both opposed Saturn, Mars and Venus - simply screams out the truism that "necessity is the mother of invention."

Prediction #5:

A head-swimming combination of the preceding paragraph is virtually guaranteed for this Summer. However, the Good Professor Saturn keeps on moving, out of aspect to either Uranus or Pluto for the last few months of 2010, moving further into His beloved celestial daughter Venus' home turf of Libra. In fact, the next major aspects that Saturn will make to any of the other outer planets will be beneficial trines to both Neptune and Chiron, forming precisely in October (Neptune) and November (Chiron) 2012. There's that darn year again...

Speaking of which, Neptune has been a key player in the astrological event of 2009, the Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune (J/C/N) communion in the late degrees of Aquarius. These three met up with each other in the same degree for the first time in any degree of the entire zodiac, in over 2009 years. This past May, June, and up to now has been signaling the official dawning of the Aquarian Age, essentially the only reason why we're all here on this planet at this time.

The J/C/N has been promising big-time (Jupiter) spiritual (Neptune) healing (Chiron) for those of us intent on co-creating a new and better world, living on the enlightened side of the ever-separating parallel Universe, setting up the runway lights for the Mother Ship to come take us home, or whatever else awaits us in 2012. Jupiter becomes a wild-card for the Cardinal Square because our celestial Santa Claus will be "swiftly" moving through His traditional ruling sign Pisces from January 17 to June 6. Jupiter then moves into Aries for the first time since 1999 and conjoins with Uranus two days later for the first time since 1997. Does anyone remember peace and prosperity?

In other words, Jupiter will be moving from spiritual Neptune (and healing Chiron) at the beginning of 2010, all the way to radical Uranus in just under six months, a rare call for us to embrace and own some bountiful (Jupiter) alternative (Uranus) healing (Chiron) spirituality (Neptune), just when we need it the most at the Cardinal Square of this Summer. Spiritual healing in this case begins by unlearning and deconstructing the religiously inspired pains of the past, from our childhood conditioning of fear, shame and guilt, to the institutionalized violence sponsored and condoned by religious/political authorities since the beginning of the Piscean Age two thousand plus years ago.

It's the Aquarian Age we're entering here folks, not the next phase of the Old World mentalities that have generated little for our collective benefit beyond a clearer definition of the word misery. Jupiter, Neptune et al are now telling us all to cut those dogmatic chains before they enslave us all.

Off on a related tangent, the differences between religion and spirituality needs to be addressed here. Religions contain stories of other people's spiritual quests, which parallel each other in very remarkable ways from one religion to the next. We can adopt those religious stories as our own if we want to but this is an intellectually and spiritually lazy way to live our lives. What's so wrong with our own unique spiritual stories? Believe it or not, Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha (or fill-in your own favorite Messiah here), would have no problem with you and me writing our own stories and making them sacred, in fact that's what their life stories were all about.

Jupiter moving away from Neptune and Chiron - all the way through the deep spiritual Waters of Pisces to unconventional Uranus in such a relatively short amount of time - is a clear signal to us that it's perfectly okay to create our own theologies for ourselves first and foremost. Anyone who claims differently - that we can't create our own theologies for ourselves - clearly doesn't understand the nature of free-will, perhaps our most significant birthright. This birthright of everyone's is what those exalted Spiritual Masters lived their lives to rediscover and reclaim as their own.

And then they tried to tell us about how to get from here to there, essentially telling us that anyone can do what they had done. Unfortunately, smothering institutions sprang up to repress the secrets of their inner knowledge, turning away the true nature of spiritual Consciousness into systems of false do's and don'ts based on fear, shame and guilt. Those same liberating secrets the Masters knew and embraced are what Saturn is now saying are available to us, and the New Whirled Order can be more fully appreciated by knowing what Neptune has been up to lately.

Astrologically, the planet is discovered when humanity is "ready" for it's energetics to arrive into our collective awareness. On February 10 we can celebrate, or at least acknowledge, Neptune's role in our human history as Neptune begins moving away from the exact Aquarian location where He/She was discovered in 1846. In other words, Neptune will have completed one full orbit around the Sun since its discovery, showing our species every conceivable aspect of spirituality from the extremes of delusional religious tyranny (which has started every human conflict), to the Universal Truths that we are all One and that everything is connected.

Along these lines, each of us can know that we are all Muslims, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Taoists, Native Americans, Illuminati, Pharaohs, Popes, Kings, Queens, beggars, jerks, babies, Saturn, Venus, etc. - ad nauseam - and that we are all essential spirits of the same human consciousness. Taken further as it rightly deserves to be, it's a Divine Consciousness where God can become a verb, as in we "do" God to and for ourselves and each other in the world. Taken further still, no single person or outside force will make 2012 or a New World magickally happen on its own - we co-create the New World one fully conscious person at a time - one New Whirled Order in every place.

In total agreement with the above, just prior to the Cardinal Cross of this Summer, Saturn sets up the return of an inconjunct (150° apart) aspect to both Neptune and Chiron, painfully reminding us of the astrological events of 2006 and 2007 when Saturn and Chiron/Neptune were opposed (180°) each other. Religious (Neptune) extremism (Saturn) was shown to be the spiritual dead-end it truly is, although some folks are still clinging to that old time hooey by literally blowing themselves up and/or obstructing responsible (Saturn) change (Uranus) for our world's sake. Responsible change should and must be the end result of the concluding Saturn/Uranus oppositions, which tellingly began on November 4, 2008.

Prediction #6:

If "Yes we can!" was the rallying cry heard 'round the world in 2008, "we have no choice" will be the mantra for 2010. The forces of "No!" are simply trying to perpetuate the systems of failure and greed that have gotten us into the mess we're in - the Old World that needs a fitting eulogy.

Saturn even concludes a decades-long morbid dance with Wounded Healer Chiron as the Cardinal Cross wanes, with Saturn moving out of a series of inconjunct and oppositional aspects to Chiron, the only aspects they've made to each other since1981. Again, the planet is discovered when humanity was ready for our collective awareness, and Chiron was discovered in 1977 at the birth of the "New Age" alternative spiritual movement. Chiron and Saturn were in a beneficial trine (120° apart) aspect to each other at the time, as if Saturn was welcoming the planetoid Chiron to our known Solar system, urging our species to heal our collective wounds.

Putting it differently, the Good Professor's trine to Chiron in 1977 ushered-in a more general acceptance of alternative spiritual and physical healing practices. A new word "holism" entered our vocabulary, speaking to the mind/body/spirit connection that we've since taken for granted. Saturn and Chiron then began moving into a series of challenging aspects to each other in 1981, showing our species a whole slew of areas that needed healing for our collective psyches, our physical bodies, and our karmic Souls.

That was the beginning of the Reagan years in the US, an era that eventually saw the end of the Soviet Union, but also saw the Dark Ages of allegedly "conservative" humanistic ideals of selfishness and greed, the hallmark of what Saturn inconjunct Chiron represented. The only thing trickling down was fear and false nationalistic jingoism, a shining city upon a hill that looked more like Las Vegas than Utopia. Saturn was busy moving through Libra in 1981 just like today and into 2012, with Chiron in Earthy Taurus, showing our world exactly where our imbalances were, but essentially nowhere near what we'll be experiencing this Summer.

In another paralleling cycle (if such a thing could ever exist), Saturn will have completed one full orbit around the Sun since 1981 concluding this Summer, with those first nasty aspects to Chiron coming to a series of defining moments. It is interesting and telling to remember that the New Age gurus of the Eighties started talking about the "coming Earth changes" as Saturn and Chiron began their nasty-ass growing-pains aspects to each other. And it would also be wise to know that Saturn and Chiron's first exact harmonious aspect to each other, another trine between these two like when Chiron was discovered, begins precisely one month before December 21, 2012, the official end of the Mayan calendar.

As yet another preview to 2012, Chiron briefly moves into the spiritual depths of Neptune-ruled Pisces beginning in April where the Wounded Healer will remain for most of the next decade. Neptune follows behind Chiron into Pisces next year until the year 2025. Uranus, Neptune and Pluto will thus be set-up in the signs they'll be in when the Mayan calendar ends Basically, those tables will be set for the final supper of our ancient Central American spooks, specific past-lives that we'd be wise to remember as being very pertinent and relevant to our near future.

As far as the upcoming Cardinal Square is concerned in how it relates to 2012, there was a faintly similar planetary alignment when the Mayan civilization was beginning to fall apart in the year 469, with Neptune in Libra taking the place of Saturn today in Venus' home turf. No offense to Neptune, but Neptune in the realm of Venus was rather ineffectual more than fifteen hundred years ago, regardless of the fact that our distant ancestors didn't even know about Neptune's existence.

Or perhaps they did with the assistance of superior (alien) technologies? We could argue about that until the sacred cows come home, so this is where our past-life knowledge of extinct civilizations would kick-in.

In the meantime, to dispel, postpone or to further instigate such speculation, Saturn finishes His reign throughout Libra in October 2012, moving into Pluto and Mars-ruled Scorpio just two months before the big day. One thing is for sure about Saturn in Scorpio - the Good Professor will be taking no enemies - so it will be far better to work with Venus-ruled Libra while the getting is good, instead of Saturn in Scorpio where the getting might be completely unavailable.

Prediction #7:

We can make the lead-up to 2012 look any way we want it to look like - it's our world - not the Mayans' world any longer. We're still here-and-now and they aren't. The Mayans exist solely within our past-life karmic memories and in their monuments to heroic deeds and movements, built when their glasses were half full. We might even need to prepare ourselves for the possibilities that 2012 is a major hoax perpetuated by some Central American tourism agency, but that would be where Saturnian wisdom can help us to sort out the facts from fiction - their religious stories from ours.

So, that's the big picture for 2010 as far as I can see it at this time. Again, stay tuned for the details in every new monthly forecast.
