2009 - On the Up Side
UpBeat Predictions for Difficult Times
There's no arguing the fact that the global economy is in deep doo-doo right now, and almost every individual on the planet is suffering in some way from the recent set-backs. However, the psychic and the optimist in me immediately noticed that such a massive correction would be rife with new opportunities.
There is an upside to this downturn…. it could serve us very nicely at this time. It may especially benefit “the little guy”, those who have struggled to keep up, even in the midst of the apparent abundance surrounding “Corporate America”… let me explain.
I see a number of positive trends coming from this shift - in fact a lot of breakthroughs are possible from the recent economic breakdown.. …
For example, one of the first big changes was that gas prices dropped, and to levels we haven't seen in 3 or 4 years or more! I thought I would never again see gas at 78cents/litre! And this was just the beginning of the price breaks I've been seeing. In addition to the many inventory-reduction and bankruptcy sales, the prices of everyday products like butter, milk and eggs are coming down.
Here are a few other trends I predict will become more obvious in the coming months:
- With so many of the big chains shutting stores or closing down altogether, there will be room for the small family-run business to thrive once again…
- folks spending less are staying home more - which means that families will find new ways of connecting and entertaining themselves together and at home…
- housing prices will drop, and those folks unable to sell their homes at a good price will choose to fix up rather than try to “sell up”… and since material prices are also dropping, we should see some real growth in the home improvement marketplace…
- we'll slow down a little, and we'll learn to get real, to look past appearances…

On the Astrological Up-side

Astrologically speaking, the up-sides can (and will!) be everywhere throughout 2009. Just how high those up-sides will be, or what they'll be looking like, is fully dependent upon how well we'll be able to heed the timeless wisdom laid out seventy-five years ago at a very similar time of economic turmoil, when then US President Franklin D Roosevelt stated; “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” Living in fear keeps us stuck into believing we're powerless to do anything about our current situations, while living a fearless life can allow us to find positive solutions for all of our challenges
The opposites of fear are of course courage, determination, the love of knowledge, the love of love, and reclaiming the birthright of our limitless imaginations to turn that same loving knowledge into the wisdom of knowingness that all things are connected. As above, so below - our beloved planets will be showing us the way, so stay tuned-in.
Further details will be outlined in upcoming forecasts, but the overriding energetic of 2009 is the continuing Saturn/Uranus oppositions, an ongoing Saturnian mystery school into advanced wisdom by redefining the word “change.” Living in fear of change means that change will be happening to us, as opposed to us becoming the changes we need to see happening in the world. Learning how to become agents for positive change is what our Souls have signed us up for in this life, otherwise we wouldn't be here at this pivotal moment in history.
Second is Jupiter's entrance into inventive Aquarius to start off the new year (exact on January 5) signaling a year-long push for us to remember that “necessity is the mother of invention.” We'll all be able to channel the creative genius in our DNA as seen in the resurgent energetics of Thomas Edison and Leonardo Da Vinci (and many other examples of creative brilliance), but again - only if we've first been doing the necessary work of releasing the negative impact of fear in our lives.
Helping us to remember our karmic responsibilities will be the Venus retrograde cycle of March and April, a time when we can reconnect with soul essences from our past-lives. Seemingly new associations with people in the arts, sciences and technologies can be made that will trigger “forgotten” memories, especially reminders of the energetics of the Great European Renaissance of the 15 th and 16 th centuries - memories and associations that can help us become co-creators of the next Great Renaissance - elements of which have already been taking shape.
And then there's the Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune combustion of mid May and early June, with all three joining together in the same degree of unconventional Aquarius. Look for a call-out to join in on a global meditation for big-time (Jupiter) spiritual (Neptune) healing (Chiron) - a three week-long communal celebration of knowing that we're all in this thing called life together. If my research is correct, such a combustion never happened in the past two millennia.

An Evolutionist's Perspective
2008 / 2009
2008 ~ When we started 2008, it was with a sense of wondering how this year might be for us all. We were in yet another new paradigm of reality and vibrational frequency. In my Evolution update January 2008 I wrote that we'd see visionary leadership in action in the world this year and that we'd see a new kind of business emerging, one that contributes to the world in fun, collaborative, vibrant, new ways.
Well 2008 didn't disappoint us. It was amazing:
... Not only did Barak Obama and his whole campaign demonstrate a new kind of visionary leadership and collaborative working, but I believe that the election result itself shows that humanity has passed a test of some kind, one that says we can care, we do choose our amazing potential and we can work together despite any differences.
... The economic crunch has been pointing us to a new and more connected way of doing business. Organisations working on profit at any cost are fast running out of steam while new paradigm businesses are discovering a new kind of economic and social prosperity by putting creativity, caring and contribution as well as people, the environment and the world at the top of their priority lists.
... As for that new paradigm, we dove into it and integrated that new vibrational frequency with an ever growing sense of ease. Over the past three months, we discovered an emerging sense of grace, not the kind that leaves you sitting around accepting everything as it is, but the kind that allows you to be amazingly transformatively while seeing the biggest potential in everyone and every situation.
... In 2008, we stepped into miraculous working, transformed our relationship with death (which is only ever that next step into eternal Life) and brought that brilliant bright light a lot closer to our living reality.
... Our young people took up the reins of visionary leadership in January 2008, which caused a bit of a shake up with them throughout the year, but by year end they seemed to be settling into an easier relationship with it all.
When I speak with large groups of people, I discover that well over 90% of them have been experiencing a HUGE transformation over the last two years. I believe that we've stepped through that phase now and have stepped into the next level of ourselves, so it should all occur from here on in with a lot more grace and ease folks. Now if someone does resist their own greater being offering them transformative potential, they may experience a bit of self-induced grief. But it doesn't have to be that way anymore. Enough people have gone through this and now the transformative shift is on offer as a gracious, delightful step from the small individual self to the greater, wonderfully connected being that you really are.
2009 ~ What will 2009 bring us? Yesterday, January 1st, I saw friends writing that 2009 feels fresh with new possibilities and that they're already in love with 2009. There's a whole new feeling to this year. I would call it exhilarating and graceful in a vibrant kind of way. And while the media might want you to believe that we're in crisis, I don't believe for a second that we are. We are stepping into the most magnificently marvellous year so far. You want to keep your focus on the new things that are emerging and growing, not on the old things that are fast dropping away. New leadership abounds in real people who truly care about the world. Dynamic businesses are creating amazing new offerings and doing it in the most wonderful new ways.
This year:
... We're going to see big, global collaborations of people who care. We've turned a corner into a united world.
... We'll see visionary leadership thrive in every area of the world, by real people with delightful passions and vibrant visions.
... Everyone is going to become more conscious than ever and as a result, more true to themselves and more connected to the things that matter.
... Young people will be stepping up to the proverbial plate and we'll be seeing them take the future of our world into their brilliant new hands.
... 2008 brought us in touch with our real true selves and 2009 will see us live as greater beings connected for the growth and evolution of our world.
... We'll see a new kind of abundance begin to emerge this year. I say we're moving to a world where abundance is available to everyone and my network and I are at working on the consciousness and the living reality of that with everything we do.
It's going to be a fabulous and amazing year and I embrace it with delight. I'm already at work on writing a new book on Consciousness, designing with others a Young Visionaries Network and Academy, sourcing a conversation for a new kind of dynamic business, putting in motion a new 9 month mentor programme called Making a Difference in the World, and launching next month a new business called Cosmic Home that sells sparkling things to create modern, magical living spaces.
Now you might think that I had to work hard to get all that in motion. But part of the grace of 2008 was that it simply emerged and in five days between Christmas and New Years it all fell perfectly into play. That's the beauty of this new paradigm. If you follow your passions, if you stay in the flow of your next potentiality, if you remain connected in all that you do, Life soars, things come to you easily and abundance rolls right along with it all in a brand new way.
Here's to your 2009 being marvellously magnificent in every single way and for the world to be alive with connection, possibilities and new ways of living, working and playing this year. My wish for the world in 2009 is that everyone gets along with everyone else. May your life be filled with joy and abundance this year.
