Count Your Blessings

An attitude of gratitude - the magical approach
Did you start the New Year by Counting Your Blessings, or do you save that exercise for Thanksgiving? For me, giving thanks, being grat3eful and appreciative has become a way of life... so I suggest then that you take a moment now - and make yourself a belated New Year's resolution (or an early one for next year) to spend a lot of time this year counting your blessings... God, in Neale Donald Walsch's Conversations with God, explains why being grateful is so important to your having what you want in life....
You will not have that for which you ask, nor can you have anything you want. This is because your very request is a statement of your lack, and your saying you want a thing only works to produce that precise experience - wanting - in your reality.
The correct prayer is therefore never a prayer of supplication, but a prayer of gratitude. When you thank God in advance for that which you choose to experience in your reality, you, in effect, acknowledge that it is there... in effect. Thankfulness is thus the most powerful statement to God; an affirmation that even before you ask, I have answered.
Therefore never supplicate. Appreciate.
There are several important dynamics at work when we move to adopt an Attitude of Gratitude... the first is that being grateful tends to draw in the energy of love - and the more loving we feel towards ourselves and our lives, the more apt the universe is to respond with loving actions - making your dreams come true - as if by magic. The second - and perhaps the "active" element - is that being grateful for what we wish - and what we have - places us, and our dreams, firmly in the present. Bringing our dreams into present time tends to 'enable' them, making them more real - and more realizable....
It's easy to be gratful for the good things in our life, the challenge is to be grateful, accepting and loving of ALL that occurs in our lives. Lately I've discovered the power in being grateful for my troubles... magically, they disappear when I notice that they are useful. It seems that accepting one's life, exactly as it is, being grateful for ALL the opportunities to learn and grow releases the fear and anxiety that prevents things from working out the way we want.
Here's a terrific exercise to help you create a '98 year to your exact specifications. Count your Blessings.
Make a list of all of the things you are grateful for in your life. Include your friendships and family, the floor that holds you up, the warm bed that comforts you at night and the computer that enables you to connect with fascinating folks from around the world.
Then make a list of everything you are wishing for... and as you write each one, bring it into present time. See and feel yourself having what you want, being grateful for it as if it has already happened.
When you've completed the blessings lists, affirm your dreams regularly by repeating this prayer
"Godessence grant me the grace to live with gratitude."
Make an attitude of gratitude your magical approach for '98... You'll be so very grateful that you did.
